Proteomics: An Introduction

Mass spectrometry techniques can be used to profile post-translationally modified (PTM) digested peptides from a sample, although some type of enrichment is typically needed since they generally exist in low abundance. Cell Signaling Technology (CST) developed PTMScan, a proprietary proteomic technology that couples antibody enrichment of PTM-containing peptides with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), allowing for the identification and quantification of hundreds to thousands of low abundance PTM peptides.
